Ashurst Air Inc.

What It Is:
A humidistat is a device used to measure and control relative humidity. It
can be set for a desired humidity level.
Humidistat's, in the home, are frequently part of an air conditioning or
central heating system and are usually found near the wall-mounted
thermostat. While the main purpose of a humidistat-controlled
environment is to achieve a level of comfort, they can also be effective in
preventing indoor mold outbreaks during particularly hot, moist weather.
How It Works:
When used in conjunction with an air-conditioning system, a humidistat will
"cycle" the air conditioner on and off in response to internal humidity level
instead of responding to internal temperature levels.
If it's functioning properly. When the relative indoor humidity reaches 70
percent or above, the air conditioner will "cycle" on, even if the thermostat
setting does not call for cooling.
How to use:
Always leave on the Home ( on ) position.
In some cases they may be wired be on the ( off) position when home.
To check to see which is the correct settings follow these instructions.
Set to the ON position and see if the unit operates normally, and if it does
the your home setting is in the ON position.
If not then turn to the off position, and this is your at home setting.
When leaving for more than (2) weeks.
Set the thermostat at 83-85 degrees, and set the humidistat at 65%-70%
and leave.
Always remember to reset your controls back to your at home settings
when you return home.
